At Trojans we value any umpire who is willing to give up their time to officiate one of our games - we know we can't play without them, but they are more important than that.

A good umpire enhances our pleasure, ensures a fair contest, and generally makes us grateful it's not our turn to wield the whistle.

UMPIRING MATTERS

If you have umpired before and would like to help us out on a Saturday, then contact Roy Gittens (023 80255 892). He will ensure you get invited to officiate a game that suits both your ability and your availability.

If you have never umpired before - or maybe it was many rule changes ago - then Roy would also like to hear from you.

We always need more umpires, and there are many ways we can help you get up to speed :

  • Maybe it's some formal training, available through the Hampshire Hockey Umpires Association
  • Perhaps you would prefer to start with an informal chat with one or more of the experienced umpires in the club
  • And maybe its a matter of getting some practice, starting with a less stressful game with a friendly club umpire 'the other end' to help you out

Umpiring can be a rewarding way to stay in touch with the club, share the social side with some of the action but without the strenuous effort involved in playing. You know when you've done a good job, you know when the game was better for it...... speak with Roy soon!

YOU HAVE AWARDED A RED CARD...
NOW WHAT?

As an umpire, you should recognise that one day you might have to award a red card - read this advice NOW so you know what to do - click here.

Here is the latest RCMMORF (Red Card/Matchday Misconduct Offence Form)  that you will need to complete asap after the game - click here.

By the way, you should speak to Roy Gittens (023 80 255 892), as the Trojans Hockey Club Disciplinary Officer, as soon as possible after the game, probably after completing the form and before emailing it.

After completion, the form must be emailed within 24 hours of the incident to both:
  • the County Discipline Administrator -
    Chris Bond, (01202 632 292), chrisw.bond @ tiscali.co.uk and
  • the Deputy County Discipline Administrator -
